Nigeria has called for increased investment in science, technology and innovation to accelerate industrialisation, strengthen local manufacturing and reduce dependence on raw material exports.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochi Udeh, SAN, said Nigeria must prioritise local processing, indigenous technology development and research to unlock the economic value of its natural resources.

He also emphasised stronger collaboration among government, academia and the private sector to create jobs, attract investment and promote sustainable economic growth.

The minister made the call at the Africa Raw Materials Summit 2026.
