Nigeria and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and implementing agreements reached during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to the UK.
The commitment was made during a meeting between the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, and Ms Christiana Scott, Director-General, Diplomatic Network, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), in Abuja on October 19, 2026.
The discussions focused on key areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, defence, migration, food security, infrastructure, electrification, climate action, green finance and agricultural value chains.
Both countries also emphasised the need for stronger institutional cooperation and practical partnerships to translate existing commitments into tangible benefits for their citizens.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by Nigeria and the UK to deepen diplomatic relations and expand cooperation across economic, security and development sectors.
