Air Peace has taken delivery of another Embraer 190 aircraft, bringing its Embraer fleet to 18 as the airline intensifies its fleet acquisition and network expansion programme.
The 96-seat aircraft arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal 2, Lagos, at about 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and was flown into the country by Capt. Mrs. Ibironke Rotimi-Olajide.
The latest acquisition is the eighth aircraft added to the airline’s fleet in 2026, reflecting the pace of its ongoing fleet expansion.
The aircraft, named after Mrs. Eka Sunmonu, wife of Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, former Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), is the first Air Peace aircraft to be named after someone outside the Onyema family.
The airline said the growing Embraer fleet forms part of its wider fleet strategy, which includes Boeing aircraft deployed across its domestic, regional and international operations.
It added that it had acquired five Boeing 737-800 aircraft in 2026, further strengthening its fleet and supporting its network expansion plans.
The newly acquired Embraer 190 is configured with 12 Business Class and 84 Economy Class seats.
Its Business Class cabin has a 1-2 configuration, while the Economy Class cabin features a 2-2 layout, eliminating the middle seat.
The aircraft also offers increased legroom, a spacious cabin and in-seat power sockets.
Air Peace Spokesperson, Mr. Osifo-Whiskey Efe, said the latest acquisition underscored the airline’s deliberate investment in fleet growth and network development.
“The arrival of another Embraer 190 is an important milestone in our strategic fleet expansion programme.
“We are deliberately building a diverse and versatile fleet that gives us the operational flexibility required to strengthen our network, improve schedule resilience and provide greater connectivity across the markets we serve,” he said.
Efe said the airline’s 18 Embraer aircraft, alongside its growing Boeing fleet, would provide additional capacity to support its long-term expansion plans.
He said every fleet acquisition was linked to the airline’s broader strategy of deploying the right aircraft across its domestic, regional and international routes.
The airline said its continued fleet investment was aimed at strengthening connectivity within Nigeria, expanding its presence across Africa and supporting its international operations.
Air Peace is the launch customer for Embraer’s E2 series in Africa.
