…MMA2 kicks against airport vandalism
NIGERIA – Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Ltd., operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) recently received the reigning NIGAV King and Queen of the Air winners from the annual Nigerian Aviation (NIGAV) Awards and Minister’s Dinner in May.
The Head, Corporate Communications at Bi-Courtney, Mrs Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.
The King, Henry Chika, a purser with ValuJet Airlines, and Queen, Aisha Yakub, a flight attendant with XEjet are ambassadors of professionalism and exemplary conduct in Nigeria’s aviation sector, were received at MMA2, a terminal renowned for its commitment to passenger satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Their visit underscored the importance of a harmonious and respectful environment for all stakeholders within the airport ecosystem.
During the visit, the King and Queen engaged in meaningful conversations with BASL executives, aligning strongly with the organisation’s Zero Tolerance for Violence policy.
Discussions centered on the rising incidents of unruly passengers and the need for multi-stakeholder advocacy to curb the trend and reinforce the values of respect and safety in aviation.
Reacting to this, the Acting Chief Operating Officer, Mr Remi Jibodu welcomed the King and Queen noting the symbolic significance of their roles.
Jibodu said: “BASL has consistently maintained a firm policy against any form of violence, vandalism, or disruptive conduct within its premises.
“Passengers are strongly urged to channel any grievances through appropriate and lawful means, as outlined by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs).
“The airport management reiterated its commitment to taking decisive legal action, including prosecution and potential inclusion on “no-fly” lists, against anyone found to be in violation of these regulations,” said Jibodu.
According to him, BASL is pleased to welcome the King and Queen of the Air to MMA2 and celebrate their achievements.
He added that beyond their individual wins, the pageant, as is customary, serves as a unifying platform for the aviation industry.
“It reminds us of the shared values that bind us together: safety, professionalism, and respect.
“We are especially proud that the two airlines represented by the King and Queen are ones we hold in high esteem.
“Both airlines are our partners in the prestigious Premium Departure Concierge Service at MMA2, and their involvement reinforces the quality and standard we strive to maintain in collaboration with all our stakeholders,” Jibodu said.

Also congratulating the King and Queen of Air, Mr Kola Bamigboye, Head, Space and Premises and Ag. COO at BASL added that in the midst of inconveniences caused as a result of flight cancellations, passengers should address the issues through the appropriate channels.
“While we understand the frustration that can arise from flight cancellations and delays, we urge passengers to address their concerns through appropriate channels, as outlined in Part 19 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs).
These regulations clearly define the rights and responsibilities of passengers as well as the obligations of airlines, travel agents, and tour operators,” Bamidele said.
He noted that the visit served as a timely reminder that while flight delays and cancellations can be frustrating, such situations do not justify aggressive or violent responses.
