LAGOS, NIGERIA — United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has officially integrated with Amadeus Global Distribution System (GDS), a significant step that broadens the airline’s reach within the global travel marketplace and enhances access to its services for customers worldwide.
The integration enables travel agents, corporate clients, and travel management companies across the globe to search, book, and manage United Nigeria Airlines flights directly through the Amadeus Global Distribution System.
The move, the airline said, is expected to significantly improve the its visibility and accessibility in international travel markets.
Speaking on the development, Adedayo Olawuyi, Chief Commercial Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, described the integration as a major advancement in the carrier’s distribution strategy.
According to Olawuyi, the partnership strengthens the airline’s ability to serve both domestic and international travelers through trusted travel partners while improving customer convenience through real-time inventory access, enhanced fare management, and wider distribution channels.
He noted that joining the Amadeus platform places United Nigeria Airlines alongside leading global carriers that utilize the system to deliver seamless booking experiences and expand market penetration.
The launch comes as the airline continues to grow its operations. United Nigeria Airlines recently expanded its fleet with additional Boeing 737-800NG aircraft and is expected to unveil another aircraft on June 18. The airline said the fleet expansion will help meet increasing passenger demand and improve operational efficiency.
The carrier also disclosed that it is exploring regional expansion opportunities and strategic partnerships aimed at improving connectivity and supporting long-term growth across its network.
Commenting on the partnership, Yaan Gilbert, Regional General Manager for Amadeus, said the agreement reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Africa’s rapidly growing aviation sector through investments in travel technology and enhanced global connectivity.
Gilbert stated that the integration immediately makes United Nigeria Airlines’ flight inventory accessible to hundreds of thousands of travel agencies and travel partners worldwide, creating new opportunities for the airline to expand its customer base and international presence.
With the Amadeus GDS platform now live, travelers booking through travel agencies and corporate travel systems globally can access United Nigeria Airlines’ schedules, fares, and seat availability in real time.
Combined with its expanding fleet and growing passenger numbers, the airline is positioning itself to capture a larger share of Nigeria’s competitive aviation market while strengthening its presence beyond the country’s borders.
