ABUJA – The Chairman of Air Peace Limited, Dr Allen Onyema, has said that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA ), stands out in it’s oversight function as a thorough and uniquely safety-centric agency, which has directly influenced the safety records of Nigerian airlines.

Onyema acknowledged the strides made by the NCAA, however, said that the challenge is that Nigerians do not fully appreciate the value of the country’s institutions.

The Air Peace boss made the remarks at the recent awards night to mark the NCAA’s 25th anniversary in Abuja.

“As we strive to position Nigeria as a leading force in global civil aviation, we must acknowledge the immense strides we have made. However, one of the challenges we face is the tendency to not fully appreciate the value and role of our own institutions.

“In particular, the NCAA, which stands out as one of the most effective and safety-focused civil aviation bodies in the world.

“Unlike other parts of the world, including Europe, America, and Asia, the NCAA’s oversight is both thorough and uniquely safety-centric.

“This focus on safety has directly influenced the excellent safety records of Nigerian airlines. We have every reason to be proud of the NCAA; it is, indeed, one of the best in the world,” he said.

Further, Onyema said under the leadership of the Minister, Festus Keyamo (SAN), Nigeria has KO witnessed a transformative period in the aviation sector.

“His unwavering commitment, dedication, and innovative approach have brought about significant progress. From the aviation policies to the infrastructural developments, the sector is experiencing a remarkable revolution.

“This transformation would not have been possible without the steadfast support and dedication of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Under the capable leadership of Captain Chris Najomo, the NCAA has achieved tremendous milestones. They have streamlined processes, improved the ease of doing business in the sector, all while upholding the highest safety standards.

“For the first time in two decades, all Nigerian airlines have come together to acknowledge the positive changes. Airlines now recognize a new era of safety and operational excellence, with no compromise on the high standards we’ve set,” he added.

According to Onyema, the NCAA has not only remained responsive but has managed to balance its oversight responsibilities with efficiency and professionalism.

Commending the President, Bola Tinubu, NCAA and Keyamo, he stated Air Peaces’ supports and align with the ongoing revolution in the sector.
