Former workers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled the Former Airport Administrators Network (FAANET) to help shape and foster continuous improvements in airport administration in Nigeria.
The network announced Comrade Jolly Ndidi (a Retired General Manager, Human Resources, FAAN) as its pioneer Board of Trustees (BOT) chairman and Comrade Adetomiwa Kolawole (a Retired General Manager, Credit Control, FAAN) as secretary.
Other pioneer BOT members includes Engr. Sadiq Muhammad Tijjani (Retired Director of Engineering Services, FAAN), Hajia Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma (Retired Director of Human Resources, FAAN), Alh. Ibrahim Sulaiman (Retired General Manager, FAAN), Comrade Awolowo Okogbo (a retired officer of ARFFS, FAAN), and Mrs. Nwokoye Angela (a retired officer of Operations Directorate, FAAN).
According to a statement by the BOT Chairman, Comrade Ndidi, the new body duly registered with and recognised by the Corporate Affairs Commission, will become very active in helping to shape and foster continuous improvements in airport administration in Nigeria.
He commended the current Management and staff of FAAN for the infrastructural and process improvements in our airports.
He urged the government to fund FAAN adequately so that authority can deliver world class and state of the art facilities and services across airports in Nigeria.
Comrade Ndidi stated that the major expectation of the FAANET BOT is that interested veterans will come forward actively to play leading roles in the various organs of FAANET..
“We saw the need to give a voice to the collateral wealth of knowledge we have garnered in our service to our fatherland, as airport administrators spanning many years, in order to connect the past with the present”.
Comrade Ndidi noted that it would be unfair to the country that has invested too much in our lives to sit back without giving back to the system.
According to him, FAANET’s debut will sharpen the system and proffer solutions to myriads of problems in the aviation sector from experiential perspectives and rich institutional memory..
The Trustees express deep gratitude to some veterans in the sector for their support towards the registration of FAANET.
