Delta Air Lines has expanded its operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), to provide Nigerian travellers additional options for connecting to destinations across the U.S. and the Pacific.

The airline said it would operate its largest-ever schedule at LAX during the peak of its summer 2027 programme, with more than 200 daily departures in conjunction with its partners.

Delta air Lines said it currently operated nonstop services between Lagos and Atlanta, providing Nigerian passengers with access to its wider U.S. network through its Atlanta hub.

According to the airline, the expanded LAX operation will further broaden routing options for Nigerian travellers heading to California and other destinations on the U.S. West Coast.

As well as those connecting onward to destinations across the Pacific.

The airline’s management said LAX would offer access to 25 international destinations, including cities across the South Pacific and Asia.

The airline’s investment in Los Angeles also included upgrades to the airport experience through its 2.3-billion-dollar Sky Way project, which connected Terminals 2 and 3.

According to Delta, customers flying in its premium Delta One cabin have access to dedicated check-in facilities, private TSA security screening and Delta One Lounges.

The airline also plans to open an additional Delta Sky Club at LAX in 2027 as part of its continued investment in the airport.

Onboard, the airline said it was continuing to enhance its premium offering, including an expanded wine programme featuring selections from California and international wineries.

The airline said eligible customers across its network can also access fast, free Wi-Fi and Delta Sync entertainment.

For Nigerian passengers, the development adds another potential routing option beyond the existing Lagos–Atlanta connection, particularly for journeys to the U.S. West Coast and onward travel to destinations in Asia and the South Pacific.

Delta said the LAX expansion formed part of its broader investment in its U.S. network as demand for domestic and international travel evolves.

The management also noted that it’s planned summer 2027 schedule was expected to make LAX an increasingly significant gateway within its international network.

The Chief Revenue and Experience Officer, Los Angeles World Airports, Courtney Moore, said the investment by airline partners in connectivity would strengthen Los Angeles’ position as a global destination.

“Los Angeles shapes, transforms, and influences the world, and LAX is proud to be the gateway connecting travellers to our city,” she said.
