President Bola Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, as Director of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Directorate of Air Mobilisation for his 2027 re-election campaign.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the minister.
The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Farouk Ahmed Umar, were appointed Deputy Directors I and II, respectively.
According to the statement, the directorate is expected to coordinate air transportation and related logistical arrangements for designated campaign officials and personnel across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
It said the directorate would work with other campaign structures to facilitate travel arrangements, scheduling and the deployment of logistical resources for campaign activities.
The statement added that Keyamo’s experience as aviation minister was expected to provide leadership in coordinating the directorate’s activities and developing an effective framework for air mobilisation.
It said the appointments of Kuku and Umar would also bring aviation-sector leadership and technical expertise to the directorate.
The statement emphasised that the directorate’s operations would be subject to applicable aviation regulations and electoral laws, with a clear distinction between campaign activities and official government functions.
It added that the directorate’s effectiveness would depend on collaboration with other campaign structures, clear operational procedures and compliance with aviation safety requirements.
The APC is organising its preparations for the 2027 general election through its presidential campaign structures and designated directorates.
