LAGOS, NIGERIA — The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has honoured the Chief Executive Officer of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, Kunle Ahmed, with a Merit Award in recognition of his contributions to the accounting profession and Nigeria’s financial services sector.
Ahmed received the award in the Non-Members Diamond Category, a distinction reserved for exceptional leaders whose work advances professionalism, integrity, accountability and sound corporate governance beyond the accounting profession.
The award was presented through the Office of the Registrar and Chief Executive of ICAN, acknowledging Ahmed’s commitment to institutional excellence, financial discipline and sustainable value creation.
Commenting on the recognition, AXA Mansard’s General Counsel and Human Resources Director, Omowunmi Mabel-Adewusi, described the honour as a testament to Ahmed’s leadership and dedication to excellence.
She noted that under his leadership, the company has continued to drive innovation, strengthen customer-centric operations and uphold high standards of corporate governance.
According to her, AXA Mansard’s commitment to responsible leadership and ethical business practices has remained a key driver of its long-term growth and success.
“Under Ahmed’s leadership, AXA Mansard has remained focused on building a resilient, purpose-driven and customer-focused organisation. It is therefore not surprising that these qualities continue to attract recognition from respected institutions such as ICAN,” she said.
Responding to the award, Ahmed expressed appreciation to ICAN, describing the recognition as an affirmation of the values required to build enduring institutions.
“I am honoured by this award from ICAN. I see it not only as a personal recognition but also as a tribute to the values of discipline, trust and stewardship that are essential for building enduring institutions in Nigeria,” he said.
He added that the recognition would further inspire him and the company to continue promoting innovation, transforming the insurance industry and creating positive impact for stakeholders.
“I am grateful to my colleagues at AXA Mansard and to everyone who has contributed to our journey. This recognition encourages us to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence and creating value for our stakeholders,” Ahmed said.
ICAN, one of Nigeria’s foremost professional accounting bodies, has continued to play a significant role in promoting ethical standards, accountability and sound financial reporting practices while recognising individuals whose contributions support sustainable business growth and institutional development.
The latest recognition is expected to further strengthen AXA Mansard’s reputation as a leading insurance and financial services provider committed to responsible leadership, operational excellence and long-term value creation.
