ABUJA, NIGERIA — The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) has inaugurated a new Branch Executive Committee to oversee the affairs of the union at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, with the newly elected officers expected to steer the affairs of the association at NiMet in line with the union’s constitution.

In a letter of introduction to the Director-General of NiMet, signed by ATSSSAN’s National General Secretary, Comrade Frances Akinjole, the association formally presented the new branch executives to the agency’s management.

The new officers are Comrade Kabiru Ibrahim, Branch Chairman; Ezekiel Yusuf, Vice Chairman; Isyaka Mahmud Tukur, Secretary; Dalhatu Victor, Assistant Secretary; and Edet-Ita Inyank, Treasurer.

Others are Abdullahi Abdusalam, Branch Auditor; Atoyebi Baba Tunde, Trustee I; David Mbaka, Trustee II; Keshinro Comfort Funke, Women Leader; and Isah Sani, Youth Coordinator.

According to Akinjole, the officers would remain in office until at least 90 days after the next ATSSSAN Quadrennial National Delegates Conference, subject to the determination of the association in accordance with its rules.

She expressed confidence that the new executives would enjoy the cooperation and confidence of NiMet management throughout their tenure.

“It is our sincere expectation and belief that this set of branch officers shall enjoy the confidence and sincere cooperation of the Management of NiMet in the collective interest of NiMet staff and the Agency throughout the duration of its tenure,” Akinjole stated.

The inauguration marks a new phase in the representation of ATSSSAN members within NiMet, with the branch leadership expected to promote the welfare and interests of staff while fostering constructive engagement between the union and the agency’s management.
